Problem uninstalling an app from Windows 7/64

I am having problem sporadically with uninstalling my program from Windows 7/64bit. Not an issue on other platforms and does not always even show on all Win7/64bit installations (like my test machine).

Two customers I am dealing with right now are having this issue on a consistent basis and has occurred between builds of my application.

The project is an Installshield 12 Pro sp2, basic MSI type with no custom scripts. UAC is off. The program installation is cached to it's own folder under Windows...

When the user (with admin privileges) opens Programs and Features and clicks on my application entry to uninstall, the following message is displayed;

Name:  1.png
Views: 25
Size:  19.5 KB

There are a couple of methods I have found to uninstall the application;

1) Going to the microsoft website http://support.microsoft.com/mats/pr...ninstall/en-us and running the FIXIT application, which allows me to uninstall, or
2) I can run the command line program uninstallstring that I read from the Windows\uninstall node of the registry, which will run MSIEXEC /I{MYGUID} and properly uninstall.

What would cause this error to appear?

Can anyone tell me what the sequence of events is when someone clicks on an app in Programs and Features to uninstall?

I know the process is passed from InstallShield to the Windows Installer but what happens in between?

Any help is appreciated! I hope I posted in the right place :cool:
